Hands Off Health Care Pop Up Protest, November 15, 2025

In November 2025, about 50 Moore County residents gathered on Highway 211 (Yadkin Rd) near the Moore Regional Hospital with signs, cowbells, and chants to show their support for funding important programs like Medicaid.

Medicaid supports more than 3 million North Carolinians, with more of those people concentrated in rural communities. Underfunding medicaid hurts hospitals in rural communities by cutting pay of staff and shortchanging hospitals. This causes the doctors and nurses who work at those hospitals to go elsewhere for better pay, and can lead to shutting down those hospitals altogether. Rural communities often lean more republican and, unfortunately, are also most at risk of these second and third order effects of an underfunded health care system.
